The assistive technology centre has chosen Tools4Students as their app of the week. This app helps students to organize their ideas, visually demonstrate relationships between ideas, display a sequence over time, visually summarize, depict a timeline and much more. Halifax, NS -- The province's new P-12 education plan will put students first by better preparing them for post-secondary education, good jobs, and active citizenship.

The Kids and Learning First plan, released today, Feb. 3, by Education Minister Ramona Jennex, includes 39 actions focused on putting students first, effective teaching and linking the school and community.

The February 22, 2012 Board Meeting DRAFT agenda has now been posted. You can find a copy of the agenda HERE.

Members of the public may provide input on any agenda item by way of presenation to the Board, or by written submission.

Requests for presentations must be made to the Board Secretary by noon (12 p.m.) on Friday, February 10, 2012. Interested persons/organizations will generally be allotted 10 minutes for their presentation. The February Public Input Session will take place on Monday, February 20 at 7 p.m.

Written submissions are due by noon (12 p.m.) on Friday, February 17, 2012.

Hello South Shore Regional School Board families,

It has been two months since I was appointed by the Minister of Education, Ramona Jennex. I want to give you an update on what I have been doing in my role as your School Board. My focus is, and will continue to be, on providing the direction necessary to support all SSRSB students and their families.

Your Opportunity to Graduate - Adult High School in Chester 2012

South Shore SchoolsPlus is looking for interested Adult Learners for its 2012 Adult High School in Chester. School will start on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. There is no cost and students will be accepted from any part of the South Shore; however, should more than seven adult learners show interest in the program, preference will be given to Chester-area residents.

South Queens Junior High School PD on inquiry (project) based Learning
Information night for parents, students to remain home for two days

On Monday, January 30 and Tuesday, January 31, South Queens Junior High School (SQJHS) will hold two days of professional development around inquiry (project) based learning next week. All students (7-9) will remain home for these two days.

In addition, the school is inviting all interested parents to attend a meeting on Monday, January 30, at 6:30 p.m. to learn more about inquiry based learning in the school.

Congratulations to 2011 BJSHS grad, Whitney Lohnes, who won a gold medal last night in the 48 kg under-20 division Connonwealth Judo Championships taking place in Cardiff, Wales. Whitney, the Canadian champ, went undefeated scoring victories over England in the semi and an Australian in the final.
