Bridgewater, NS – The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development has announced capital funding for a number of projects across the province, including funds for Park View Education Centre in Bridgewater.

“Park View Education Centre has received approval for a major renovation project,” said Superintendent Geoff Cainen. “This is very exciting for us as this school is at a point in its life time where it needs substantial renovations to update the building for current, and future, student needs.”

Park View Education Centre offers grades 10-12 programming for over 800 students. It is an International Baccalaureate World School, offers multiple athletics programs, fine arts, Options and Opportunities (O2), Skilled Trades Exploration Program (STEP), an Alternate High School program and skilled trades.

“This major renovation will extend the building life for 20 years, and allow for future student and curriculum programming. As curriculum changes, so must our buildings to accommodate new requirements,” said Superintendent Cainen.

“We are very pleased with the announcement by Minister Casey today,” said Board Chair Jennifer Naugler. “Schools across the province need funding for capital expenses. Maintaining our buildings is costly, and support from the province for large projects such as this renovation is crucial.”

Over the next few months more information will be available on the details of the renovation. For more information on the announcement visit www.ednet.ns.ca
