Middle French Immersion |
Late French Immersion |
|
All students in Nova Scotia are required to take core French or it’s equivalent from grades 4 to 9. Students must receive on average 30 minutes of core French per day. At the grades 10 to 12 level core French becomes an elective choice for students. |
Grade 6 Intensive French is currently being piloted in 3 schools in the SSRSB. These schools are: Dr JC Wickwire Academy, Lunenburg Middle School, and Chester Area Middle School. With intensive French students are exposed to French language arts instruction on a daily basis for the first half of the year. During the second half of the year the students have a normal schedule including 30 minutes on average of core French. |
Middle French Immersion is offered at the Bridgewater town schools. Students begin Middle immersion at Bridgewater elementary school from grades 4 to 6. Students then continue on at Bridgewater Junior Senior High School from grades 7 to 12. |
Late immersion begins at grade 7 and continues on to grade 12. We currently have 2 systems offering this program. Students take grades 7 to 9 late immersion at South Queens Junior High School and continue on for grades 10 to 12 at Liverpool Regional High School. Students also take grade 7 to 9 late immersion at Hebbville Academy and continue on to take immersion courses at Park View Education Centre where student course enrollment dictates if certain courses can be offered. |
